A fire-safe cigarette has a reduced propensity to burn when left unattended. The most common fire-safe technology used by cigarette manufacturers is to wrap cigarettes with two or three thin bands of less-porous paper that act as “speed bumps” to slow down a burning cigarette. If a fire-safe cigarette is left unattended, the burning tobacco will reach one of these speed bumps and self-extinguish.
New York State was the first US State to require that cigarettes sold and manufactured in the state be fire-safe. In Canada, fire-safe cigarettes are mandated nationwide using the New York state standard.

Most smokers who have smoked the new "Fire Safe Cigarettes" with the "FSC" Paper do not like them at all. They complain of many issues with them. Most say they taste very bad and have a sort of cardboard taste. They complain that they burn their throat, cause headaches, cause itching, and the cigarettes constantly go out and have to be re-lit several times to finish one. See details and links below to help you understand what FSC Cigarettes are and which states have the law or will have the law. We have included other links to forums and other information about Fire Safe Cigarettes as well. We currently carry mostly NON-FSC Cigarettes, but all manufacturers will convert ALL Brands over to FSC by the end of 2009 Nationwide regardless if your state has the law.
